How to grow a beard

So the topic of how to grow a proper beard properly is not new. Every man is different and so is their beard. Some men can grow their beard in a few weeks whilst for others it can easily take them months to see only little progress. So we are going to be discussing the most effectively way of growning a beard and some challenges you may face on the journey to growing a full beard. We are also going to be tackling the myths about the topic of growing the beard.

LET IT GROW

Let it grow

This is the number one reason many men cannot grow out a beard, because they give up easily. They either shave it off or trim it off. If you want you beard to grow let it grow without cutting it. Trimming or shaving will cut the chances of little baby hairs growing to their full potential. So every time you shave a baby hair which is already fragile, the cycle of it re-growing from scratch starts again. So let it grow. Whilst growing your beard out, it will get out of shape for a while so cleaning it a bit around the edges near the upper and lower lips it advised. A minimum of 6 months is required to grow a good sized beard with no shaving or trimming at all.

Myth buster

There is a common myth that shaving helps promote new growth and also make the process of growing a beard quicker. Well that’s false. You can shave all you like and see no difference in the time it takes for your facial hair to grow out. In fact research shows that constant and regular shaving can actually halt growth of facial hair as continuous shaving cause’s damage to the skin which can cause inflammation to the skin which can slow down the rate of new hair growth.

MAINTAIN IT

beard

Washing the bead is very important. Beards are like the hair on our scalp it catches on to dirt and it is very important to get rid of the dirt so that it does not build up. Build up on the skin can also halt hair growth because build up can block hair follicles stopping hair from growing. Wash with a mild beard shampoo making sure it does not dry the skin out too much as it can cause irritation. Making sure it is a BEARD shampoo is important because beard shampoos are made for the beard and facial skin and hair shampoos are made for the scalp and scalp hair. The scalp skin and facial skin are different as facial skin is more sensitive.

Keep it clean and tidy. Making sure you regularly comb your beard is important especially when it’s long to make sure the hairs don’t get tangles and to allow for equal oil distribution which will give the hair a natural skin. Combing also stimulates blood flow which may increase hair growth.

CONDITION AND OIL

Beard oils

Using oils such as rosemary essential oil can help stimulate hair growth, this is because rosemary essential oil is a good stimulant which brings more blood flow where applied.  Also oils such as tea tree and olive oil are recommended. Just be advised that putting a small amount of oil before going to bed is advised because tea tree and rosemary essential oils have a mild smell also it is recommended you wash oils off so that it does not get too greasy.

Conditioning with a beard conditioner after shampooing is also recomended.

So here are the 3 easy and simple tips to growing your beard grow out.
